Lovibonds Causes Traffic Chaos

Lovibonds Brewery is being blamed for the latest disruption to traffic in and around the riverside town of Henley-on-Thames.  As part of Lovibond's Drink Local campaign the Henley-on-Thames brewery has decided to capitalise on the trend of drinkers enjoying more beer at home by implementing a major infrastructure project.

Lovibonds Chairman of the Beer Jeff Rosenmeier said, "We are ripping up the road and laying enough pipe work to supply our craft beer to every household in the Henley area.  Much like gas, water, electricity and other necessities of life, we are using the roads to take our beer direct to homes.  We assure you that the benefits will outweigh any temporary traffic disturbance."

Unnamed representatives from CAMRA blamed Lovibonds for putting another nail in the coffin of the British pub, while the Henley Standard applauded Lovibond's commitment to Thinking Local.  Learn more at Drink Local...

Hop Watch 2009
The exceptional weather that we've been having has done wonders for the hops in the yard.  We'll track the progress of this plant from now until being put into our 2009 Fresh Hop Amber some time in Aug/Sep.

Hops add aroma, flavour and bitterness to beer, balancing out the sweetness of the malt.  Humulus Lupulus is one of only a few plants in the Cannabeacee family.  Hops came into fashion when they were discovered to be a natural preservative and found to be far less psychotropic than some of the other herbs that 16th century brewers were using.

The bines of this plant will grow upwards of 25 feet this year and produce enough hops cones (female flowers) for a couple homebrew sized batches.  We have 8 plants like this and will be having an open brew day where they will all be chucked into a brew, fresh from picking.  Stay tuned.

New Places to Drink Lovibonds   Other Great Places

The Bell Inn - Waltham St. Lawrence
Scott and Ian are pretty serious about their food and beer in this pub and we recommend you put it on your list of pubs to visit.  You can now enjoy draught Henley Gold with their ever changing slow food menu.  When we were setting up the tap, the chefs were busy in the kitchen making the pasta for the day...

Norden Farm Centre for the Arts - Maidenhead

Check out Norden Farm for the latest film offerings as well as other performances and workshops.  While you are there, check out the Cafe Bar where you can now enjoy all 3 Lovibonds beers on draught.  You can see what's on here

Shillingford Bridge Hotel - Shillingford

This hotel is on a quiet stretch of the River Thames between Henley and Oxford.  The public bar and restaurant is now serving Henley Amber on draught.
That's all for now...I hope to see you soon!

Best regards,

Jeff
