Hello everyone, Hope you are all getting the sun that Henley has been graced with. Lots of news, so here goes… Henley Site Yesterday we completed a lease agreement for the property in Henley that inspired me to resurrect the Lovibonds name. People familiar with Henley will recall a narrow gauge track that runs into the Market Place, next to Threshers. This track runs through the site which can be accessed from Greys Road car park. Built by Ives Bros in 1867, and then taken over by John Lovibond and Sons from 1916 to mid 1950s the building has historically been used as a mineral water works, brewery and wine and spirit store. We will be packaging and distributing beer from this building while licensing applications take place for brewing and a retail front end / museum. We hope you will all be able to join us for an open day scheduled for the end of June – date to be confirmed. Henley Gold You can always find a list of places to try Henley Gold on www.rosenbrau.demon.co.uk/lovibonds/wherecanitry.htm . The Bear at Home in North Moreton (www.bear-at-home.co.uk) is the latest to start serving Henley Gold. Tim and Ali have just won the South Oxfordshire CAMRA Pub of the Year, so you know all the beer is in top form. The food is just as good and I suggest pairing the Henley Gold with some of the excellent seasonal fare on offer. Addition to the Team Some of you had a chance to meet Jason Stevenson at the Henley Christmas evening last December. Jason recently joined myself in this craft beer adventure. He has one of the best beer palates I have ever witnessed and can craft just about anything – with military precision! Jason is in charge of operations and logistics and has already proved to be an invaluable member of the team as we execute our expansion plans. Jason can be reached on Jason@lovibonds.com Festival News Recently at the Ascot Beer Festival, up against over 50 local beers, Henley Dark took third place as voted by beer drinkers on the day. We’re told that 75 pints of the Dark were consumed in less than 3 hours, so sorry if you missed out. Reading Beer Festival (http://www.readingbeerfestival.org.uk), one of the largest beer festivals in the UK starts on Thursday. Henley Dark and Henley Amber will be on offer, so we suggest you try them early…maybe we’ll see you there for the opening session on Thursday… Best regards, Jeff |
